So, you wanna be a stripper?

So, you wanna be a stripper?

“How do I start dancing?” is one of the top questions I hear the most.

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer, but here’s the truth: if you really want to do it, then do it. That being said, you have to understand that it’s not for everyone, and it’s definitely not easy money.

The first thing I recommend is asking yourself why you want to start. What’s your end goal? Be brutally honest with yourself. The answer shouldn’t just be “for the money,” because money is only a tool and dancing is simply a stepping stone to something bigger.

This industry is so much more than showing up, looking gorgeous, and getting paid. It’s a real job that demands work, consistency, dedication, and a set of skills. Don’t overcomplicate the process by overthinking it; that will only make things harder on you. Listen to suggestions, but at the end of the day, only you can decide if this is right for you.

If you’re ready to get started—or just curious—keep reading. Even if you’ve been in the game for a while, this is a refresher we all can use.

Here’s How to Get Started

The first steps you’ll want to take are:
Research, research, research.
Mentally prepare.
Pre-establish boundaries.
Look the part.
Practice your moves.

1. Research, Research, Research

Do your homework! Research the club you want to work at thoroughly. Call ahead and ask questions: What are the audition times? What’s the dress code for dancers? Are there specific club requirements? Don’t stop there—Google the club to get a customer’s perspective, and check out the Dancers Resource App for reviews from other dancers.

2. Mentally Prepare

This job is not all fun and money bags. The industry will test you mentally in ways you might not expect. Men will be jerks. Management can be tough. Other girls might not be the nicest. And rejection? It’s inevitable. You have to build thick skin, or this industry will eat you alive. With time, experience, and consistency, your skin will naturally get thicker, and you’ll learn to handle the challenges like a boss. Take time to reflect on this and get yourself mentally ready.

3. Pre-Establish Boundaries

Boundaries are everything in this job. Men will try to push them…especially when you’re new. Decide now what you will and won’t allow, and never feel guilty about standing your ground. Enforcing your boundaries is a sign of self-respect and confidence, and it will earn you respect from others too.

4. Look the Part

Even if you’ve never danced a day in your life, you’ll want to look like you’ve done this before. Invest in platform heels, find flattering outfits, and get your makeup on point, especially for your audition. And here’s the key: don’t just buy platform heels and wait until you’re on stage to walk in them. Practice at home! Create a little routine in your heels to build your confidence and nail your audition.

5. Practice Your Moves

You don’t have to be a pro, but having a simple routine prepared will make you feel more comfortable and help you stand out during auditions. Confidence is key, and practice will give you that edge.

Final Thoughts

Remember: more money is NOT the ultimate goal. The real goal is to live life on your own terms and create the future you deserve. Dancing is a stepping stone that can help you get there if you do it the right way.

So many entertainers have taken their earnings from the club and built thriving businesses, creating financial freedom beyond anything they imagined.

You can’t dance forever, but your bag can last forever, because of what you did with it.

Good luck, and let’s get glowy! 💖
